Goetz of Bala Cynwyd, PA (married to Susan Goetz), four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She was born in Trenton, NJ in 1921, the first child of William Parent and Alice Clegg. Her brother was William B. Parent of Hamilton Township, NJ.Mrs. Goetz's life spanned nearly a century and demonstrated the classic character of the Greatest Generation.Trenton's swift economic contraction during the Great Depression brought extreme family hardship, and Mrs. Goetz's vision to attend college and become a teacher was met with family skepticism. With sheer determination and resolve, she graduated from Trenton State Teachers College in 1943, an education financed largely by part-time employment with the F. W. Woolworth Company store on Trenton's East State Street. Upon graduation she immediately began a public school teaching career. Mrs. Goetz taught English. She was proud of being a student at Kuser School in Hamilton Township, NJ, and then later returning to that same school to teach. She pursued study towards a graduate degree at Teachers College of Columbia University. Her husband, George A. Goetz, of Trenton, and Mrs. Goetz had both been lifelong members of St. James Episcopal Church and they were married there in 1946.Mr. and Mrs. Goetz together designed and built their dream house in Falls Township, PA and made that their home in 1947. Mrs. Goetz never lived in any other home afterward and never desired to. Children followed in 1951 and 1954 and all the elements for an idyllic suburban life seemed to be in place. But 1954 brought a medical diagnosis of multiple sclerosis in Mr. Goetz. The disease advanced quickly and left Mr. Goetz handicapped for the next 42 years. Mrs. Goetz rose to the challenge of caring for her husband and raising her family. The people of Morrisville, Falls, and Yardley had big hearts and helped in countless ways, some for decades. That community showed just how kind and caring humankind can be.Mrs. Goetz possessed a beautiful soprano voice and sang in Hamilton High School productions and competitively in New Jersey. Her solo rendition of O Holy Night at Morrisville's Church of the Incarnation remains a beloved Christmas Eve memory.Mrs. Goetz enjoyed gardening, home decoration, entertaining, and cooking. Her mastery of English grammar enabled flawless speaking and writing. She believed that any problem could be solved by pausing to have a cup of tea, and largely proved that to be true.Mrs. Goetz died at home in her dream house, happy, at peace, and grateful for the long life she had been given to live.
