Arlene L. Hovemeyer, a remarkable individual, was born on August 26, 1948, in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, and departed this life on January 16, 2025, in Hopewell, New Jersey. Arlene's journey was enriched by her unwavering dedication to her career, having served as a Hearing Officer for the State of New Jersey's Division of Motor Vehicles for an impressive thirty years. Her commitment to public service exemplified her desire to contribute meaningfully to the community in which she lived.
Education played a crucial role in shaping Arlene's life, as she proudly graduated from Morrisville High School, Class of 1966. This foundation allowed her to traverse her professional path with determination and skill.
Beyond her vocational pursuits, Arlene found profound joy in her personal life. She cherished moments spent at the shore house in Sea Isle, New Jersey, and at her mountain retreat, where the beauty of nature complemented her zest for life. A talented cook, she delighted her loved ones with her culinary creations. Crafting held a special place in her heart as well; she particularly enjoyed stained glass projects and decorating, infusing her surroundings with artisanal charm. Arlene's unconditional love for her dogs, Angel and Bella, mirrored the affection and care she bestowed upon all those fortunate enough to know her.
Arlene leaves behind a loving family who will hold her memory dear. She is survived by her devoted husband, Thomas H. Hovemeyer, Jr., along with their son, Thomas III, and daughter-in-law, Tracey Hovemeyer, of Yardley, Pennsylvania. Her legacy continues with five beloved grandchildren—Jessica Marko, Alyssa Martin, Alexis Baily, and Devin and Jamie Gustad—and six great-grandchildren, Casey, Mallory, Taylor, Anthony, Ryan, and Benjamin, each of whom enriched her life immeasurably.
Arlene's familial bonds were also fortified through her cherished sister, Dolores "Dolly" Winkowski, and brother-in-law, Edward Winkowski, of Levittown, Pennsylvania, whose support and companionship she greatly valued.
In reflecting upon Arlene's life, it is important to remember those who have predeceased her, including her father, Henry T. Labatch; her mother, Margaret Zim Labatch; and her daughter, Tina Hovemeyer Bailey, who all remain ingrained in the tapestry of love that surrounds her family.
