August "Goose" Trofe

August Trofe (Goose), a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2024, at the age of 96. He was a beloved father to August J. Trofe and Rita Matiko and her husband, Andrew Matiko Jr., He was a proud grandfather to Margaret Matiko, Theresa Keeny and her husband, Darren Keeny, and Andrea Matiko, and a loving great-grandfather to Josephine English, August Keeny, and Gene Keeny. 

August is survived by his brother, Gene Trofe, his sister, Josephine Koritko, and several nieces and nephews who adored him. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Josephine Trofe, with whom he shared many wonderful years. August served his country with honor in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, an experience that shaped his enduring spirit of dedication and resilience. 

An avid beekeeper, August found joy and tranquility in tending to his bees, a passion he maintained throughout his life. He was also a valued member of Operating Engineers Local 542, where he worked with pride and precision, embodying the qualities of hard work and integrity. 

August Trofe will be deeply missed by all who knew him, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and dedication. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. 

A funeral service will be held on Monday, 11am September 9, 2024, at J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, located at 41 W Trenton Ave, Morrisville, PA 19067, where a viewing will take place from 10-11 AM. Burial will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery, 875 River Road, Yardley, PA 19067. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Save the Bees Foundation at savethebees.com/donate in honor of August's lifelong passion for beekeeping.
