Barbara A. (Bock) Alger, age 80, of Yardley, PA, died peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012 at her home with her family by her side. Born in Gary, IN, she lived in Yardley for 21 years, moving there from Fairless Hills. Prior to her retirement in 1996, she was employed with the Department of Community Affairs, State of New Jersey, for 11 years. Barbara was a member of the Morrisville Presbyterian Church. Her real joy was her family and especially her grandchildren. A dancer herself growing up, she treasured her granddaughter Jamie's dancing and never missed a single show from 3 years old right up to her current performances at Rider University. She made many of her grandson Michael's baseball games and was even known to give advice. One of the fondest memories her family will have of her is how she made holidays so special. In particular Christmas and a special family gathering on Christmas Eve, a tradition she took over from her mother, the late Anna Bock. She also enjoyed many trips over the years with her sister Beverly; the resulting stories were always so funny they are family classics. From the fond memories that her children and family have at Van Skiver Lake in the 1960's to the crazy situations she got into with her grandchildren during the many sleepovers she will be sorely missed by all. Daughter of the late Edward and Anna (O'Brien) Bock, and wife of the late Robert L. Alger, to whom she was married for almost 50 years, she is survived by a son Robert Alger of Langhorne, PA, a daughter and son in law Catherine and Mike Ropars of Yardley, a sister Beverly Curtin of Gainesville, VA, 2 grandchildren, Jamie and Michael Ropars, a nephew Robert W. Curtin, a great niece Eva Curtin, a niece Lori Curtin and Karl, a nephew Lawrence Curtin, a great niece Dorothy and great nephew Jacob, along with her loving poodle Abby.Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services at 11 AM on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012 in the Hutchinson Memorial Chapel of the Morrisville Presbyterian Church, 771 N.
