Barbara Reynolds, one of God's children, passed away on July 13, 2018 and during her lifetime was a truly faithful servant of His Word: Leviticus 19: v. 18. She worshiped faithfully at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Yardley, PA. Barbara sang joyfully in the adult choir, served four terms as a member of the church council, and enjoyed her times with her church friends in the LCR Bookclub and the Sunshiners retirement group. She also earnestly participated in church bible and instructional classes being graduated as a Diakonia scholar.
Born in Detroit, Michigan on January 4, 1943 to the late David and Betty Joyce Swensen, Barbara lived in Roseville, MI, Mt. Clemens, MI, East Lansing, MI, Akron, OH, Spartanburg, SC, Fallsington, PA and Bristol, PA before settling in Morrisville, PA where she retired.
She was graduated from the University of Akron with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education-Classics and received Registered Nurse (RN) Professional Licensure in PA and NJ, following Dipolmate study at Helene Fuld School of Nursing, Trenton, NJ. After additional graduate study Barbara was designated a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), by the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators. During her 33 years of nursing, she practiced at Einstein Medical Center, Helene Fuld Medical Center, Bellevue Care Center, Delaware Valley Medical Center, Warminster Hospital, Bucks County Technical School (RPN Instructor), Lower Bucks Hospital, St. Francis Medical Center, Doylestown Hospital, Hospital of University of Pennsylvania and St. Mary Medical Center. With her RN and CDE distinctions, she served the American Lung Association of Southeastern PA, both on the board of directors and as it's President.
Barbara loved her gardening, boating, RV camping, caring for her historic home in Fallingston, and being a loving grandmother to her grandchildren.
Barbara was beloved by her faithful husband, Michael J. Reynolds of 57 years. She will be cherished by her children, Jeffrey M. Reynolds of Morrisville, PA, Linda K. Romano of Philadelphia, PA, and Diane M. Bueltman of Morrisville, PA; Siblings,Suzanne Swensen of Siler City, NC, David Swensen Jr of St. Clair, MI and Steven Swensen of New Port Richy, FL; Grandchildren, Ashley, Michelle, Chelsea, Michael, William III, Lillianna and Rachael; and Great-grandchildren, Mariah and Melody.
Church members, relatives and friends are invited to attend Barbara's Celebration of Life Service at 11:00AM on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 1700 Makefield Rd. Yardley, PA 19067. The Rev. Kristina V. Ahlman will officiate.
