Bruce Joseph Patin, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on November 19, 2024 at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at the age of 73. He was born on August 14, 1951, in Munich, Germany, and raised in El Paso, Texas, where his vibrant spirit first began to blossom. In 1998, he made Newtown, Pennsylvania, his home, a place that welcomed his unique personality and diverse interests.
For 25 years, Bruce dedicated his career to MAGLOCLEN in Newtown, where he thrived as a software developer. His contributions to the field were notable, but what truly set him apart was the warmth and kindness he extended to those around him. Bruce's colleagues remember him not just for his technical skills but for his insightful conversations and unwavering support.
A man of many passions, Bruce had an insatiable curiosity of the world and how it worked. He majored in Physics at UTEP, and that started his love of science. He found joy in exploring esoteric ideas, holding a particular fascination with the astrophysics and the concept of alien life. His interest extended into music, where he attempted to master both the intricate compositions of Chopin and the playful Peanuts theme on the piano. Bruce was not only a lover of music but also a former competitive dancer, bringing elegance and grace to the dance floor.
His thirst for knowledge was evident in his extensive reading and in his eagerness to learn new languages, reflecting his love for connection and communication. Bruce's adventurous spirit and zest for life were infectious, drawing people into his orbit and leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.
He shared a beautiful life with his wife, Colleen Abbenhaus, his devoted partner throughout their journey together. Bruce is survived by his sons, Alexander Patin of Richmond, VA, and Tim Patin of Newtown, PA, both carry forward his legacy of kindness and curiosity. His siblings Kevin Patin, Pam Patin, Karen Salguero, and Renee Levesque are left to cherish the memories of a brother who brought joy and laughter into their lives. Bruce also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Patin, his mother, Emma Faye Miller Patin, and his brother, Andy Patin, who welcomed him into eternal peace.
As we remember Bruce, we are reminded of a life lived to the fullest, marked by love, laughter, and a wonder for the cosmos and all it holds. His spirit will forever to come.
