Carol G (Gasco) Kuronya

December 23, 1935 — December 13, 2018

Carol G. Kuronya, 82, of Morrisville, PA, passed away peacefully at her home with her friends and family around her on December 13, 2018.  Born in Trenton, NJ, Carol moved to Morrisville when she married the late Geza “Gus” Kuronya in 1961.

A graduate of Trenton Central High School, she earned a BA from Rutgers University in 1959, and a teaching certificate from The College of New Jersey in 1960.  She had a varied career that began when, in high school, she worked after school at the Skelton Branch of the Trenton Public Library for fifty cents per hour. In Trenton, she worked as a laboratory technician for the New Jersey Health Department; taught 4th and 5th grade at Harrison Elementary School; owned 18th Century Bouquet, supplying boxed dried flowers for Colonial Williamsburg and creating original arrangements for a local clientele; and founded Step-on Tour Guides of Trenton, Princeton, and Bucks County, PA.

A life-long community activist, Carol served as president of many groups and organizations.  In Trenton, she was president of The Contemporary Club, she was instrumental in maintaining the clubhouse as a Victorian museum in the State House Historic District and developed the annual tour program, Four Views of Trenton.  She was on the Mayor’s Cultural Resource Committee and a member of the NJ Children’s Home Society, serving as Program Policies Chairman.  Carol was also active in the Hungarian Reformed Church, serving as Sunday School Superintendent, chairing the church’s 100th Anniversary Celebration and developing and designing a museum for the church school basement featuring the history of the church and Trenton’s Hungarian community.

In Morrisville, she founded the Morrisville Business Association that advocated for community improvements and coordinated the 1996 Olympic Torch Relay through Morrisville.  She was appointed to the Morrisville Economic Development Corporation, serving on the Education Committee as well as the Morrisville Task Force, serving as Grant Chairman. She was President of the Bucks County Children’s Home Society Auxiliary.  Carol was a member of the Board of Directors of the Historic Morrisville Society at Summerseat and served as president during a period of major structural repair and repainting.

Carol was the daughter of the late Denes and Amelia Kovacs Gasco. She is survived by a daughter Kimberly K. Krajci, Kim’s husband Robert and their son Michael. She is also survived by her son Daniel and his fiancée Maryann Martin, a son Robert, a niece Arlene Gofus, a sister Karen Cummins, and several grand nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Carol’s life is planned for Saturday, January 5 at the Yardley Country Club.  Visiting hours are from 10-11, Celebration of Life at 11:00 with a luncheon to follow.

She will be interred beside her husband Gus (aka Slick) at a private ceremony at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, Morrisville, PA.
