Charles Joseph Bentz

Charles Joseph Bentz, age 85, of Morrisville, PA, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, Sept. 4, 2017. Born in Trenton, Mr. Bentz lived in Morrisville for the past 56 years.Prior to his retirement, he was an Assistant Vice-President with New Jersey Manufacturer's Insurance Company. Mr. Bentz was a former member of the Morrisville Borough School Authority and the Morrisville Borough Planning Commission. He was proud to be a graduate of Trenton Catholic Boys High school and of the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business. After obtaining his Bachelor's in Economics, he served as an officer in the United States Navy and retired as a Lieutenant Commander of the United States Naval Reserves. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Trenton, Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Morrisville, and St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church in Long Beach Island, NJ. He found great pleasure in traveling, sailing, refinishing furniture, reading, following the stock market and spending time with his wife and family at their home in Ship Bottom, NJ.Son of the late Charles G. and Edna (Breyer) Bentz, he is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Mary Ann (Casey) Bentz, 5 children Mary (and Richard) Nolan of Loudonville, NY, Charles C. Bentz (and fiancée Kimberly James) of Malibu, CA, Peter C. (and Virginia) Bentz of Morristown, NJ, Ellen (and Thomas) Amalfitano of Hagerstown, MD, and Bridget (and Michael) Sizer of Baltimore, MD. In addition will be remembered lovingly by his 13 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial Mass at 10:30 AM on Friday, Sept. 8, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 343 S. Broad St., Trenton, NJ. Burial will be private as Mr. Bentz elected to have his body donated to medical science via the Humanity Gifts Registry of Pennsylvania.Friends may call Friday from 9:30 - 10:30 AM at the church.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in Mr. Bentz's name be made to The El Centro Program or The Housing and Food Program at Catholic Charities, Diocese of Trenton, 383 W.
