Charles John Yablonsky, a devoted husband and loving father, passed away on January 9, 2025. Born on May 9, 1937, in Shenandoah, PA, he lived a good and long life.
Charles graduated from Shenandoah Catholic High School in 1955. He then proudly served four years in the US Navy from 1955 to 1959. Years 1957-1959 were spent aboard the USS Saratoga aircraft carrier participating in operational exercises in the North Atlantic and Mediterranean.
After a brief stint working at Curtiss-Wright, he spent 35 years (1962-1997) as a Senior Electronics Technician at RCA Astro-Electronics (and its next iterations - General Electric Aerospace, Martin Marietta and Lockheed Martin), located in East Windsor, NJ. His contributions to spaceflight hardware and ground support equipment supported dozens of commercial and government satellite programs. He was proudest to have been a part of the team tasked to build the RCA color television (CTV) cameras for the lunar surface operations of the Apollo 15, 16 and 17 missions. He returned to Lockheed Martin in Newtown, PA, as a consultant between 2009 and 2013. He was known as “Charlie” to his colleagues.
When not working, Charles enjoyed gardening and fishing. He enjoyed cheering on the Eagles, Phillies and Penn State football, along with trips to the Atlantic City Casinos and Parx Casino in Bensalem.
He celebrated over 64 years of marriage to his beloved wife, Justine (Zaborowski) Yablonsky. Charles was the proud father of two children: Charles (and daughter in-law Lynn) of Yardley, PA, and Joseph (and fiancée Laura) of Crofton, MD.
Charles is survived by his brother Paul (Shenandoah, PA) and sisters Marie Kakalecik (Jersey City, NJ) and Mildred Chiemolowski (Stanfordville, NY).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Stella (Toczylowsky) Yablonsky, along with siblings Francis, George, Irene Schreppel, Helen Savitsky, Bertha, Joseph, Albert and Leonard.
