Charles Kenneth Young Sr.

Charles Kenneth Young, Sr., age 70 of Yardley, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 25, 2015 at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne, PA, surrounded by his loving family.Born in Trenton, NJ, Mr. Young was a lifelong Morrisville/Yardley resident. He was a graduate of Morrisville High School, class of 1962. He went on to earn his Ph.D. in Education, graduating from Trenton Junior College, West Chester State College, and Trenton State College. Mr. Young was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, serving as a combat medical specialist. He was especially proud of his awards: The Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Combat Medical Badge and Purple Heart.Prior to his retirement, he was a school teacher with the Pennsbury School District, teaching General Science, Chemistry, and Biology at William Penn Middle School and Pennsbury High School. Mr. Young was a history buff, especially WWII. Additionally, he loved music, movies and spending time with family. He was also an avid cat lover.Son of the late Charles Cheston Young, Jr., he is survived by his beloved wife Carol L. (Finch) Young, his mother Gwendolyn E. (Girton) Young, his son Charles Kenneth Young, Jr. and his partner Andrea Reynozo, a daughter Cheryl Anne (Young) Haak and her partner Kelvin Reyes, 3 grandchildren Masyn, Chase, and Aubrey Young, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.Relatives and friends are invited to attend his life celebration at 11 AM on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015 at the Morrisville United Methodist Church, 501 W. Maple Ave., Morrisville, PA 19067. The Rev. Wendy Bellis, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.Friends may call Thursday from 10-11 AM in the church lounge.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Young's name may be sent to Vietnam Veterans of America, PO Box 1095, Doylestown, PA 18901-0020.Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the J.
