On Tuesday, March 16, 2021, Cheryl May Winter, loving wife and mother, passed away at the age of 75.
Cheryl was born on February 18, 1946 in Philadelphia PA, the first and only child of Alfred “Pete” and Marian “Honey” Liss. She lived with her family in Rockledge PA as a young child, before her parents built a house in Southampton PA which would be her family home for most of her life. Cheryl worked in office management, wearing many hats as a receptionist, clerk, and purchasing agent, for over 20 years. On April 4, 1970, Cheryl married Jacob "Jack" Peter Winter. They raised three children: sons Scott and Brian, and daughter Kristen.
Cheryl was known to family and friends as a matriarch of great kindness and generosity. She always stepped up to help anyone in need, whether it was her elderly relatives, her parents, her kids, friends and neighbors and their children, and even random people she encountered. Despite being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1983, Cheryl bravely fought the disease all her life and it never slowed her down from being there for her loved ones. She enjoyed playing accordion, piano, and guitar, and she made sure to introduce the gift of music to her children. Cheryl’s favorite activities in later years were enjoying meals with her husband and friends at their favorite local restaurants, and going on trips with Jack to places like Jim Thorpe and Lake George.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Marian, and by her husband Jack. She is survived by her children Brian and Kristen, her stepson Scott, and her seven grandchildren and step-grandchildren Scott, Danielle, Jacob (Jake), Justin, Jesse, Caitlyn, and Bradley.
A memorial service for Cheryl will be held on Friday, March 26, 2021 at 2 PM at J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, 41 W Trenton Ave, Morrisville PA 19067, where friends may call from 1-2 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in Cheryl’s honor be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
