David Bartlett Aaronson, 78, of Philadelphia passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Mt. Holly, New Jersey to Frank Wescott Aaronson Jr. and Mary Elizabeth “Betty” (Reese) Aaronson, David was an accomplished athlete, playing football, baseball, basketball, and other sports through high school. He also enjoyed traveling, golf, biking, scuba diving, skiing, guitar, and reading. David is a decorated veteran of the United States Army, having served as a combat helicopter pilot in the Vietnam War for which he was awarded numerous medals and awards for his service. After 21 years in the military, he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1987 to succeed his father as owner and operator of Belasco Petroleum Company in Cookstown, New Jersey. He then attended Rutgers Law School and moved to Philadelphia where he became an associate attorney at Mesirov Gelman Jaffe Cramer & Jamieson LLP and then with Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP and McCarter & English LLP before retiring in 2012.
David is predeceased by his parents, Frank and Betty, and his daughter, Heather Leigh Aaronson. He is survived by his beloved wife of over 22 years, Anne (Schwab) Aaronson; his sons, Mark Jacob Aaronson and Scott David Aaronson of Philadelphia; his brother, Mark (Nelda) Aaronson of Mt. Holly, NJ; his sister, Susan (Robert) McArthur of Mt. Holly, NJ; his former wife, Barbara J. Aaronson of Hainsport, NJ; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be truly missed.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, 752 Big Oak Road Morrisville, PA 19067. The funeral Mass will begin at 11:30 a.m. The graveside service and military honors will be rendered following the Mass at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road Newtown, PA 18940.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in David’s memory to the Vietnam Veterans of America . Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
