David Scott Yantz

July 28, 1943 — January 16, 2025

Langhorne, PA

David Scott Yantz, a beloved teacher with the Pennsbury School District for 34 years and a community theater director, departed this world on January 16, 2025, at his home in Langhorne, PA, leaving behind a legacy woven into the very fabric of the community he cherished. Born on July 28, 1943, in Trenton, NJ, David embodied a spirit of dedication and passion that resonated throughout his life.

For more than three decades, David devoted himself to shaping young minds, imparting wisdom, and igniting a love for learning among his students. His enthusiasm for American History was unparalleled, and he nurtured curiosity and encouraged critical thinking in the classroom. Colleagues and students alike remember him not only for his effective teaching methods but also for his ability to inspire and motivate.

An active member of the Morrisville Presbyterian Church, David’s heart always beat in sync with the lively rhythms of his community. He found joy in participating in the Youth Club, helping to direct many of their annual productions. David also helped form the MPC Players, the adult theater, where he contributed his creative flair, sharing stories and laughter with those around him. His passion extended beyond the walls of the church; he was a proud former president of the Pennsbury Arts Foundation and an esteemed member of Woodside Masonic Lodge #427 F. & A.M. for more than 50 years, where he fostered camaraderie and commitment to service.

David's interests were as diverse as his talents. A collector at heart, he filled his home with an array of treasures, including Christmas and Santa Claus decorations that twinkled with the joy of the season, antique Easter and Halloween decorations that told stories of yesteryears, an array of watches, and an impressive collection of George Washington memorabilia. Each piece held a memory, embodying his innate ability to connect the past with the present. His enthusiasm for travel and cruising allowed him to explore the wonders of the world, further enriching his life experiences.

A fondness for cats added warmth and companionship to his household, reflecting his nurturing nature. David was a teacher not only within the classroom but also in the everyday lessons of love and kindness that he shared with those he cherished.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Sandra Sosna Yantz, with whom he shared 51 wonderful years. Their bond was strengthened by the joys of marriage and parenting, and David took immense pride in his family. He is survived by his son, D. Christian Yantz, and daughter-in-law, Laura Baldwin Yantz, of Harrisburg, PA; and his daughter, Amanda L. Yantz, of Morrisville, PA. The warmth of his legacy continues through many nieces and nephews who carry forward his spirit.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond L. Yantz and Ruth Yantz Krewson, and his brother, William R. Yantz, whose memories now join in the tapestry of his life story.
