Deborah Mrs. N. Antanaitis A. (deborah) Narcini)

April 20, 1953 — November 4, 2014

Deborah N. (Narcini) Antanaitis, 61, of Morrisville, PA and formerly of Ewing and Trenton, NJ, passed away unexpectedly on November 4, 2014 in the arms of her adoring husband at Penn Medicine Hospice at Rittenhouse in Philadelphia. Daughter of the late Antoinette (DiMemmo) Narcini, Aunt of the late Kristen Narcini and daughter-in-law of the late Alvah Antanaitis, Deborah is survived by her loving husband, Brad Antanaitis, her father Richard Narcini of Ewing, NJ, a devoted son Chris Antanaitis of Morrisville, two stepsons, David Antanaitis , his wife, Debbie and daughter, Rebecca, of Northville, MI and Sean Antanaitis and his wife, Katrina, of Baltimore, MD, a brother and sister-in-law Rich and Anne Marie Narcini of New Egypt, NJ, her niece, Megan Tice and her husband Mathew of Mercerville, NJ, her father-in-law, Victor Antanaitis of West Stafford, CT, two sister-in-laws, Jamie Birchall and her sons Parker and Kyle of West Stafford, CT, Tracy Capello of West Stafford, CT, her beloved aunts and cousins from "Jersey" and her loving and entertaining "New England Family."This incredibly talented, intelligent and kind-hearted woman read the entire Golden Book Encyclopedia, cover-to-cover, at the age of six. The sense of wonder engendered by this precocious exercise and her natural proclivity to all things musical eventually led her to Trenton State College, where she graduated as a music major, summa cum laude, in 1975. From there she did graduate work, first at Harvard Divinity School, earning a Master of Theological Studies in 1977 and then at Yale University, where she earned two MA's in rapid succession, one in 1979 in Medieval History and a second in 1980 in Medieval Musicology. To satisfy a deep-seated linguistic passion tied to Roman Catholic ritual she studied Latin at the summer Latin Institute (CUNY), condensing three years of Latin into several weeks. Despite being a devoted and engaging wife for 31 years and a loving, caring, and exceedingly resourceful mother, Debbie worked nearly continuously for thirty years. She applied her prodigious abilities in three work arenas: First, as an analyst for the New Jersey School Boards Association , second as an analyst for legislative services (Department of Education for the state of New Jersey) and finally as a controversies examiner for the Bureau of Controversies and Disputes (Department of Education for the state of New Jersey). Remarkably, with no formal training in law, but a keenly analytical mind, she rose to the directorship of that bureau, directing the activities of a small, elite group of hard-working lawyers. Debbie's numerous interests and passions combined with her equally numerous gifts allowed her to enter and explore many worlds and share these passions with anyone within hailing distance. She spoke and could read several languages, played five instruments (piano, organ, harpsichord, clavichord and violin) and loved to listen to and sing opera in a local chorus in Chambersburg. When she lived in Ewing with her parents, she often created the musical service and played the organ at St. James Church for mass and other events. She also had a lifelong passion for silent and classic movies, especially horror films. Although she loved her work and never gave less than her best, Debbie's emotional epicenter was her family and a handful of close friends. She was an outstanding homemaker, creating a bewildering array of gourmet meals from scratch and lovingly making special meals for her husband and son. She delighted in decorating "our beautiful little home" in a way befitting changing seasons. More importantly, she decorated our lives with her unending love and support, her gentle and compassionate spirit, warm generosity, her wide-ranging sense of humor and an intrinsic goodness that blessed us all. Dear sweet lady, what a privilege it has been to be part of your life! You will be missed more than you could ever know.Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate her funeral mass at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Morrisville, PA.
