Donald Lee Alf, born on October 1, 1942, in Chicago, IL, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2024, in Trenton, NJ. He was 82 years old. A devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, Donald leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Donald dedicated many years of his career to working as a mechanical engineer, a field in which he excelled and made significant contributions. His professional life was marked by a commitment to precision and innovation, attributes that he carried over into his personal passions.
For over 50 years, Donald called Yardley, Pennsylvania, his home. It was in this community that he built not only a house but a life filled with memories and friendships. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, embodying the spirit of service and dedication. His military experience shaped him into a person of integrity and resilience, values he instilled in those around him.
Donald was an avid auto racing enthusiast and a longtime member of the Porsche Club of America, where he shared his love for cars with fellow enthusiasts. His passion extended to sports as well; he was an unwavering fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and the Philadelphia Flyers. Evenings spent cheering on his teams were some of his happiest moments.
Aside from his hobbies, he found joy in music, often drawn to the sounds of Judy Collins, Neil Diamond, and Janis Joplin. These melodies accompanied him throughout his life, creating a rich tapestry of memories and emotions.
Donald is survived by his beloved daughter, Sharon Thomas of West Windsor, NJ; his former wife, Ellie Chiaramonti of Levittown, PA; his sister, Nancy Dunham of IL; his cherished grandchildren, Steven Schillings and Amanda Thomas; and his great-grandsons, Ryot and Cory. He is also remembered by his nephews, Patrick and Christopher Dunham, and his longtime friend, Nick Sapnar. Donald was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Edward Alf, his mother Ruth Wipfler Alf, and his son, Lee A. Alf, whom he loved deeply.
Calling hour will be Friday, Dec. 27, 2024 from 10-11 AM at the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, 41 W. Trenton Ave., Morrisville, PA 19067, followed by a funeral service at 11 AM. His interment will be in Thompson Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery, New Hope, PA.
