Donna Jean Gruber (7/02/1946 to 2/13/2024)
A life-long non-smoker, Donna succumbed to the effects of lung cancer at her home in Langhorne, PA on February 13, 2024.
Affectionately known as Ms. Donna by her adopted family and her large circle of friends, she will be greatly missed. Her dry humor, generosity, and genuine concern for others made her a very special person, esteemed by all who knew her.
Donna was born in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of Eleanor Gruber and Robert Wilson Gruber. She attended the Miami University of Ohio. After graduation, Donna began a long and successful career as a civilian employee at the Naval Aviation Supply Office in Northeast Philadelphia. Starting as an Inventory Management Specialist in 1968, she managed spare parts for Navy aircraft including the F-4 and S-3. Over the course of her career, she assumed more challenging roles culminating with her selection as Deputy Director of Operations supporting Navy and Marine Corps aircraft throughout the world. Universally respected throughout the aviation logistics community, she received many performance awards and served as a mentor to many Navy military and civilian employees during her years of government service.
After retiring from the Navy in 2007, Donna was an active member of the community, serving on her Homeowners Association Board and volunteering with Langhorne Heritage Farm and Meals on Wheels. She was a strong supporter of animal-related causes and a devoted fan of her beloved Pittsburgh Steelers.
