Dr. Darrell Lee Tuomari

Darrell Lee Tuomari, age 69 of Yardley, PA, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Jefferson Bucks Hospital.  Born in Detroit, MI, Dr. Tuomari lived in Yardley for 37 years.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a Veterinary Pathologist with Merck Animal Health in Rahway, NJ for over 20 years.  Dr. Tuomari was a graduate of the University of Michigan, earned his D.V.M. from Michigan State University and his Ph.D. from Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine and was a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists.   He was a member of the Society for Toxicologic Pathology (STP) for whom he wrote multiple articles.  Darrell was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Yardley.  He was an experienced world traveler, an avid freshwater fisherman and enjoyed playing Santa Claus at the Howell Living History Farm in Mercer County, NJ every year.   Along with his wife, he ran the food pantry at Trinity Cathedral in Trenton for 7 years until 2020.

Son of the late Kalervo and Sylvia (Annala) Tuomari, and brother of the late Dale Tuomari, he is survived by his loving wife Vickie (Stenson) Tuomari, a brother Dean C. Tuomari of Livonia, MI, two brothers-in-law Joseph Stenson of Doylestown, PA and David (Ellen) Stenson of Cleveland Heights, OH, two nieces Eve V. Stenson (and spouse Brian Standley) and Kate T. Stenson (and spouse Danial Canfield), great nieces and nephew,  as well as many cousins who have remained close throughout the years.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 54 W. Afton Ave., Yardley, PA   19067.  His interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call Tuesday evening, May 14, 2024 from 7-9 PM, and on Wednesday morning from 9:30-10:30 AM at the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, 41 W. Trenton Ave., Morrisville, PA   19067.
