Dr. Keri D. Barber

Dr. Keri D. Barber, 45, of Morrisville, PA, passed away on Friday, January 1, 2021 at home with her husband by her side.
Born in Lakewood, CA on July 1, 1975, Dr. Barber lived in California, Washington, Montana, Japan, and Pennsylvania.  She received her undergraduate degree from California Polytechnic State University, Pomona and earned her Master’s from Cal State Los Angeles and PhD from the University of California, Riverside.  She’s been an educator for 23 years and an English Literature and Composition Professor at Bucks County Community College for the last 12 years.  Dr. Barber was a proud member of the Virginia Woolf Society.

Dr. Barber bravely battled Metastatic Colon Cancer for 2 1/2 years.  Cancer did not define her final years, yet gave her even greater clarity, deeper gratitude to the people she loved, and an even fuller passion for life.

Dr. Barber is survived by her devoted husband Taliloa “Junior” M. Fuaau; her 2 Cats, Leonard & Virginia, whom she loved for 16 years as her children; her parents, John W. Barber of Corona, CA and Kathleen M. Brady of Grants Pass, OR; two sisters and brother-in-law, Kelly J. Paine of Vancouver, WA, Katie E. Skrmetta and Sean R. Skrmetta of Fort Leavenworth, KS; three adoring nephews, Jacob W. Paine, Jonathan Q. Haley, Benjamin S. Skrmetta, and one precious niece, Elizabeth J. Skrmetta whom Dr. Barber taught Shakespeare in her final months.

Dr. Barber’s greatest passions were academics, educating, literature, travel, dining, family, and friends.  Her deepest intellectual passions were for the classic feminist authors such as Virginia Woolf, Emily Bronte, and Mary Shelly.  Dr. Barber would quote each with ease and explain each stanza with exquisite detail.  The Centurion News once quoted Dr. Barber in saying, “I just want to read about Shakespeare and teach... I’ve always wanted to kiss Oscar Wilde’s grave and add to the collection of kisses that is there." Shakespeare was read, literature was taught, a kiss was added.

Dr. Barber wished for no formal services to be held in her honor.  Her husband and immediate family will bury her in Lake Isabella, CA with her late Great-Grandparents, William and Elizabeth Brady.
