Elaine C. Mullen, a beloved resident of Morrisville, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024, at the age of 81. Born on March 27, 1943, in Reading, Pennsylvania, Elaine led a life filled with love, compassion, and creativity, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering devotion to her family, her community, and her calling to serve others.
Elaine dedicated 44 remarkable years to her career as a social worker with the State of New Jersey's Department of Family Development. Her deep compassion and steadfast commitment to uplifting families in need left an indelible mark on countless lives. Elaine's professional journey also included her early role as a switchboard operator for Bell Telephone, where she kept her community connected with grace and reliability.
A proud alumna of Morrisville High School, Class of 1961, Elaine pursued her higher education at Rider College, earning her BA degree in 1965. Her education laid the foundation for a career of purpose and underscored her values of perseverance, resilience, and service—qualities she instilled in her family and all who knew her.
Elaine shared 57 beautiful years of marriage with her devoted husband, William J. Mullen, building a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Together, they raised three children: their son, Wm. John Mullen of Morrisville, PA; their daughter and son-in-law, Laurie E. and Sean Aldrich of Runnemede, NJ; and their son and daughter-in-law, Michael T. and Michelle Mullen of Haddon Township, NJ. Elaine’s role as a grandmother to nine adoring grandchildren—Mikayla, Kelly, Andrew, Deanna, Shawn, Isabelle, Liam, Benjamin, and Fiona—brought her immense joy. She nurtured their lives with her love, creativity, and unwavering support, creating treasured memories that will endure for generations.
Elaine was also a cherished step-sister to Arlene Lindenthal, Pat Barnhart, and Joan Garrison, and a beloved aunt to countless nieces and nephews who adored her.
Beyond her professional and family life, Elaine was a gifted singer, artist and homemaker. She sang in the choir at Saint Mary’s Cathedral for over 30 years. She was also an award-winning baker known for her breathtaking cake designs, which brought joy and wonder to every occasion. Her sewing skills turned fabric into masterpieces, from elegant dresses to intricate curtains, reflecting her artistic flair and meticulous attention to detail.
Elaine’s dedication to her community was as profound as her love for her family. As the former President of the Morrisville Library Board, she championed literacy and access to knowledge for all. A proud Republican Committeewoman and an active member of the Morrisville Republican Club, she embodied the spirit of civic engagement. Elaine also played an instrumental role in organizing flea markets for St. John the Evangelist Church, fostering a sense of unity and support among her neighbors.
Elaine's life was a testament to selfless service, boundless love, and unwavering faith. Her memory will remain a source of inspiration for all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carmelo C. Zocco and Anne E. (Fox) Zocco, and her sister, Eileen Settelen.
A celebration of Elaine’s extraordinary life will be held on January 6, 2025, with visitation from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services, 41 W. Trenton Ave., Morrisville, PA 19067. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, 201 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Morrisville, PA 19067, from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM. Interment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton Township, NJ, at 12:15 PM.
Elaine C. Mullen will forever be remembered for her radiant spirit, her endless generosity, and her profound impact on the lives she touched. Her family, friends, and community celebrate a life well-lived and a legacy of love that will endure.
