Elizabeth "Betty" Johann Sullivan, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2024, at The Birches of Newtown in Newtown, PA, surrounded by her loving family. She was 90 years old, having been born on February 27, 1934, in Bristol, PA.
Betty dedicated 30 years of her life to caring for others as a registered nurse at the offices of Dr. Dougherty and Dr. Khan in Morrisville. Her compassionate nature and steadfast commitment to her patients defined her career, earning her the respect and admiration of many in the community. She was not just a nurse; she was a guardian of comfort in times of need, a calling she embraced whole heartedly.
A lifelong resident of Morrisville, Betty found joy in the small pleasures of life. She was an avid metal detectorist, often venturing to the beach in hopes of unearthing treasures from the past. She would spend hours researching the history of any item she found, always seeking to connect with its original owner. Betty was also a proud member of the Mid Jersey Research and Recovery Club, where she shared her passion with like-minded enthusiasts.
Creativity flowed through her artistic talents; Betty delighted in making stained glass items—each lamp and sun catcher crafted with intent and love. She was a skilled knitter, passionate about crafting hats for cancer patients and baby garments for local hospitals. Her hands embraced the fabric as she transformed simple strands into tokens of love and care, brightening the lives of those in need. Betty also devoted her time to volunteering at Lawrence Rehabilitation Center in Lawrenceville, NJ, where she brought joy to others through her kindness and generosity.
Betty’s connection to her family was profound, and she cherished the moments spent with them. She is survived by her loving sons, John P. and Diane Sullivan of Yardley, PA, and Bryan D. and Joan Sullivan of Fairless Hills, PA, as well as her daughter Beth A. and Paul Kurtz of Langhorne, PA. Her legacy continues through her five grandchildren, Daniel, Matthew, Lauren, Michael, and Amanda, and her great-granddaughter, Kira Louise. Also surviving are her dear siblings, Tom and Martha Lenox of Cape Cod, MA, Pat and Mike Kahlenberg of Langhorne, PA, and sister-in-law Nancy Lenox of Morrisville, PA, alongside many cherished nieces and nephews.
Betty is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Paul E. “Sully” Sullivan; her parents, John and Elizabeth Drescher Lenox; her brother, Don Lenox; and her grandson, Robert Joseph Sullivan.
All services and burial in Washington Crossing National Cemetery will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
