Evette B. Sapirman, age 79, of Bridgewater, NJ, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2021 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital of Somerset, NJ. Born in Bronx, NY, Evette had called several places home, including, Queens and Staten Island, NY, and Old Bridge, NJ, before settling in Davenport, FL, where she and her husband of over 50 years, Herb, spent their retirement in happiness together. It was not until recently that Evette moved to Bridgewater, NJ to be closer to her family.
Evette earned a Bachelor's Degree in accounting when she returned to college after her children were grown. She then worked her way up to a management position as an auditor for the NY State Insurance Fund where she was a compassionate leader of diverse teams for many years. When she was not working or being a loving matriarch of her family, Evette enjoyed swimming, teaching swimming, travel, reading, cooking and playing games. Evette was a staunch supporter of women’s rights, human rights, and children’s causes. She marched in Washington for NOW and was an active volunteer for many causes throughout her life.
When she moved to Davenport (near Disney World - so her children would always come and stay), she played an active role in the 55+ community at High Vista, where she and Herb resided. Teaching water aerobics, volunteering on the security patrol, and quilting blankets for infants in need where among the activities that brought her fulfillment. In her later years, she also had taken up playing mahjong regularly and enjoyed teaching to others. Evette had a special love for all things Disney, often saying that her children had an additional brother in “Mickey Mouse.”
Daughter of the late Samuel and Minna (Baranow) Werber and wife of the late Herbert Sapirman. Evette is survived by her children: Jay and Valerie Sapirman of Center Valley, PA; Shari and Patrick Dell’Arena of Yardville, NJ; and Louis and Nadine Sapirman of Hillsborough, NJ; her siblings, Anita Sapirman-Gorelick and Alan Gorelick of New York, NY and Gerald and Lola Werber of Alpharetta, GA; her grandchildren, Matthew Sapirman, Chelsea and SeQuioa Sims, Megan and Jessica Dell’Arena, Ariel Dell’Arena, Amelia Sapirman, Jared Sapirman, Evan Sapirman and Jasean Sapirman; as well as her goddaughter, Samantha Gorelick.
