Garth Thomas Dunphy, a loving husband, devoted father, cherished brother, and proud grandfather, passed away on December 20, 2024, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Born on July 20, 1959, in Oakville, Ontario, Canada, Garth was raised in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, before spending the last 27 years of his life in Sellersville, Pennsylvania.

Garth’s life was marked by dedication and service, culminating in a distinguished career in the United States Navy, where he retired as a Chief Petty Officer after an admirable 22 years. His service to his country was a source of pride and honor, and it was a reflection of the steadfast commitment he brought to every aspect of his life.

Avidly passionate about many interests, Garth was known as an enthusiastic hunter and a devoted football fan, proudly supporting the Philadelphia Eagles through every season. He also rooted for the Phillies and Flyers, making sports a central theme in family gatherings. The joy he found in the great outdoors was complemented by his love of camping and riding his motorcycle, activities through which he created countless memories with his family.

Family was the cornerstone of Garth’s life. He is remembered fondly by his devoted wife of 41 years, Juanita Y. (Hughes) Dunphy, who stood by his side through thick and thin. Their union was blessed with two daughters, Jessica Dunphy of Quakertown and Meghan Y. Dunphy of Quakertown, both of whom carry forward his spirit and values. Garth’s legacy continues to thrive through his grandchildren, Astin, Kayleigh, Alexia, Charlie, and Rogan, with whom he shared precious moments filled with laughter and love.

He leaves behind a loving family that includes his sister Kerri Dunphy, his brother Mark Dunphy, and sisters, Kathy Sullivan and Dawn Higgins. Garth was also fortunate to have many nieces and nephews who treasured the time spent with him. He also leaves behind many individuals whose lives he impacted throughout his life.

Garth is preceded in death by his father, Garth Basil Dunphy, and his mother, Eleanor (Allen) Dunphy. Their impact on his life resonated deeply within him, shaping the values he lived by and instilled in his own family.

As a member of VFW Post # 245 in Sellersville, Garth took immense pride in his community involvement and support for his fellow veterans. His contributions to both his family and his country will not be forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating Garth's life on Tuesday, January7, 2025 at 11:30 AM at J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services, located at 41 W. Trenton Ave., Morrisville, PA 19067.  Calling hours will be from 10:30 to 11:30 am at the funeral chapel. His interment with military honors will be held at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Rd., Newtown, Pa 18940 on January 7, 2025 at 1 PM.

Garth Thomas Dunphy’s legacy of love, passion, and service will forever remain etched in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
