George E. Goring of Yardley, PA passed away peacefully in his home, with his family by his side, on Friday, November 25, 2022. A New Yorker through and through, he was born and raised in Woodside, Queens, NY, before relocating to Middletown, NY to raise his family. They later settled in Yardley 21 years ago.
A photographer in the U.S. Army, George spent his service at Fort Ord near Carmel, CA in the late ‘60’s. Moving back to his hometown, George began his career as a Transit Police Officer before retiring in 1997 as a Lieutenant in the NYPD. An avid concert-goer during the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, he relished seeing Jimmy Hendrix famously set his guitar ablaze at the Monterey Pop Festival and was allegedly known to secretly record his favorite concerts. He was a passionate - yet pessimistic - New York sports fan, always supporting the Mets, the Jets, and the Knicks.
Son of the late George Jacob and Diane (Field) Goring, brother of the late Peter Goring - who is survived by his wife Julia - and nephew to his beloved late Aunt Adele Field, he is survived by his wife Brenda and 4 children: Keith (and his wife Robbie), Brian, Kevin (and his wife Jordan), and Kimberly. He is also fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews: Andrew, Kathy, Chrissy, Jason, Frank, Randolph, Meaghan, and Kyle.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather from 12 Noon - 1 PM on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 54 W. Afton Ave., Yardley, PA 19067. His memorial service will take place at 1 PM.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Goring’s name may be made to The Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research ( https://lustgarten.org/donatenow/ ) o r The Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society ( https://phillypaws.org/donate/ )
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, Morrisville, PA.
