Gretchen V. Leahy age 87, of Langhorne, PA, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2015. Born in Trenton, NJ, daughter of the late Harold and Lucy (Donovan) VanHorn, Gretchen grew up on a farm outside of Newtown PA. She attended George School and then attended Smith College. Gretchen and husband the late Dr. Leroy P. Leahy lived in Morrisville, PA for 50 years before moving to Langhorne for 12 years. Gretchen was described by her dear friend, Andy, as cheerful, smart, creative and fearless. Her interests were widespread including knitting, sewing, painting and writing- all with an eye for perfection. She was an avid bridge player, pool and skeet shooter. She enjoyed traveling abroad. Gretchen, along with others, helped stop the Tocks Island Dam Project preserving the amount of water flow of the Delaware River past Trenton and Morrisville. No matter in whose company, she was willing to give her opinion in order to benefit others. Whatever she did, she did well.Gretchen is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law Leroy P. and Barbara Leahy of Bellevue, WA and Clyde and Kim Leahy of Lansdale, PA, three grandchildren Jordan, Nathan, and Collin Leahy, and a daughter-in-law Suzanne Leahy.Services and interment will be held privately, at the convenience of the family, entrusted to the care of the J.
