James Howard Slotterbeck, Jr.

February 24, 1938 — January 2, 2021

Morrisville, PA

James “Jimmy” Howard Slotterbeck, Jr., age 82 of Morrisville, PA, died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Fox Chase Cancer Center, Philadelphia, following a short but powerful battle with pancreatic cancer.

Preceded in death by his father, James Howard, who died at Normandy during World War II, his mother Helen (Stokes) and his brother John, Jimmy is survived by his bride of 45 years Donna (Bliss) Slotterbeck, brother William, and extended family including Lee Ann and Laci Brady, Rosalie, Cindy, Dave, Ryan, Drew, Erik and Amber Mazurkiewicz, Claudia and Juan Gonzalez and family, and Donald and Joanne Thompson and family.

A longtime parishioner of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, and a proud Morrisville High School graduate (Class of 1956), Jimmy was an ardent Eagles fan when they were winning and an armchair coach when they weren’t.  He loved camping at Bel Haven, fishing, hunting, traveling and the many adventures he shared with his wife, family and friends he treated like family.  Jimmy spent his entire career working for Delaware Valley Bindery (over 50 years) and possessed a unique ability to fix just about anything.

Jimmy was a true student of history.  He and his wife volunteered their time, reenacting at the Historic Morrisville Society’s Summerseat location as Mr. and Mrs. Barclay, greeting General George Washington at their “home” during that fateful December in 1776.

With a warm smile and kind word for everyone, Jimmy was a true gentleman, beloved and faithful friend who will be missed by the parishioners of Holy Trinity Church, the Morrisville Senior Center and his beloved cats, PeekaBoo and Juliet.

Due to current COVID-19 restrictions a celebration of Jimmy’s life and a memorial Mass will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions, in Jimmy’s name, be made to the Morrisville Senior Center, 31 E. Cleveland Ave., Morrisville, PA  19067 or to the Historic Morrisville Society, 130 Legion Ave., Morrisville, PA  19067, or to Fox Chase Cancer Center, 333 Cottman Ave., Philadelphia, PA  19111.
