Jennie K. Besier

Jennie K. Besier, age 76 of Columbia, S.C, passed away peacefully into the presence of the Lord on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Pickering Manor in Newtown, PA.  Born in Monroe, Michigan, Jennie was a longtime resident of Toledo, Ohio, where she graduated from the Toledo Hospital School of Nursing, then graduated as a nurse practitioner in the field of obstetrics, while in the Air Force.

She enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and graduated from Officer Training School.  Ms. Besier was assigned to Okinawa, Japan from 1970-1972, then to Denver and Texas, and finally to Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina. Jennie then served in the Air Force Reserve for 21 years, retiring as a Lt. Col.  Settling in South Carolina, she worked and retired as a nurse practitioner.  She was honored to be included in the Future Nurses of American and the National Honor Society.  Jennie was the Torchbearer for her Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Columbia, where she was an active volunteer.  Jennie later became the loving caregiver for her mother, who passed away at the age of 105.

Daughter of the late William Lewis and Alice (Reglin) Besier, she is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Mary Alice and Chuck Sutton of Langhorne, one niece and six great nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at 12:45 PM at the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, 41 W. Trenton Ave., Morrisville, PA.  Her interment with military honors will follow at 2 PM at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Rd., Newtown, PA  18940.

Friends may call Thursday from 11:45 to servicetime at the funeral chapel.
