John Gernhaber Dyott, age 86 of Levittown, PA passed away peacefully, with his daughters by his side, on Friday, Nov. 22, 2019. Born in Morrisville, PA, Mr. Dyott lived in Yardley before moving to Levittown 55 years ago.
John was a graduate of Pennsbury High School, a member of Pennsbury's first complete graduating class. He was a proud Air Force Veteran, who marched in the Inaugural Parade for President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Dyott was employed as a blacksmith with U.S. Steel for over 30 years. While there, he made parts for the St. Louis Arch and the Verrazzano Bridge. John was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Morrisville, the National Rifle Association and a charter member of the Falls Township Rifle and Pistol Association. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, making his own rifles and bullets, competition shooting, outdoor activities and spending time with his wife at their cabin in Susquehanna, PA. He especially loved his dogs.
Son of the late Elmer and Anna (Gernhaber) Dyott, and husband of the late Sonja Anne (Strait) Dyott, he is survived by two daughters, Sondra L. Dyott of Levittown and Sharon Y. Dyott of Croydon, a brother and sister-in-law William A. and Margaret Dyott of Yardley, a nephew William Dyott, Jr. of Mexico and a niece Patricia Sheffer of Yardley.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019 at 11 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1204 Pine Grove Road, Morrisville, PA 19067. Bishop Dan Ware will officiate. His interment will follow at Rosedale Memorial Park, Bensalem, PA.
Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM, and on Wednesday morning from 10-11 AM at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in John's name be made to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association, 801 Roeder Road, Suite 1000, Silver Spring, MD 20901 (www.phassociation.org), or to the Bucks County S.P.C.A., 1665 Street Rd., New Hope, PA 18930 (www.bcspca.org).
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, Morrisville, PA.
