John V. Lavan Jr.

John V. Lavan, Jr., age 86, of Morrisville, PA, died Saturday, January 10, 2015 at St. Mary Medical Center, in Langhorne, PA. Born and raised in Trenton, NJ, then moved in 1959 to Morrisville, PA. where he held residence.Prior to his retirement, Mr. Lavan was a machinist with General Motors Fisher Guide Division in Trenton for over 35 years. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. An avid golfer, John was a member of the Trenton Country Club, the Hopewell Valley Country Club, and Yardley Country Club. He loved to play cards with the guys at the Country Club during the cooler months, golfing almost daily at the Yardley Country Club in the warmer months, traveling to Florida to play golf in the winter months, but most of all, no matter what time of year, he cherished all the time he spent and the wonderful memories made with his family and friends.Son of the late John V. Lavan, Sr. and Helen (Bergen) Lavan, husband of the late Dorothy (Lawton) Lavan, father of the late Dolores J. (Wood) Phillips and Denise L. (Lavan) McAllister, brother of the late Vincent P. Lavan and Mary I. (Lavan) Dull, and grandfather of the late Stephen David Phillips. He is survived by a brother, William Lavan, of Florida, and his wife Mary (Meagher)Lavan, son in-law Warren (Mickey) McAllister, seven grandchildren, Jeff Phillips and his wife Milli (Kerner) Phillips, Amanda, Christy, and Kyle McAllister, John, David, and Billy Phillips, three great-grandchildren, Millee, Jeffery Jr., and Mia, three great-great grandchildren Desirae, Coleman, and Darrell, and several nieces and nephews.Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 8 PM on Friday, Jan. 16, 2015 at the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, 41 W. Trenton Ave., Morrisville, PA. The Rev. John C. Eckert, Pastor of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, will officiate.Friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral chapel.Interment of cremated remains will take place on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015 at 10 AM at Morrisville Cemetery, Morrisville, PA.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in John's name be sent to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 201 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Morrisville, PA 19067.
