John Joseph Mitos of Morrisville, PA, known to many as "Yosh", passed away at his home after a long courageous battle with cancer on Dec. 23, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.Born on Dec. 24, 1946 in Trenton, NJ, John attended Holy Trinity School and graduated from Bishop Egan High School, class of 1964. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, in active duty from 1967-1971, as an Air Traffic Controller stationed in Ramstein, Germany. He was employed as a machinist, and retired from C.V. Hill Refrigeration in Trenton. He also worked for Prudential Insurance in Willow Grove, PA. John loved all sports, played golf, and was a true Phillies and Flyers fan, ensuring he took the family to a game or two every season. His kids and grandkids truly meant the world to him. He was a member of the Morrisville American Legion, as well as the Fairless Hills Elks Lodge, where he held the position of Inner Guard. John was a good friend to all, and was fortunate to still maintain friendships that he made in childhood. Son of the late John M. and Anna (Hurley) Mitos, he will be deeply missed by his son, Steven J. Mitos, his daughter and son-in-law Heather and Brian Romanek, and his adoring grandchildren Kayla, Leada, Bryson, and Sophia Romanek, all of Morrisville. Yosh is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law (and dear friend) Vicky and Michael Barker of Morrisville, a brother and sister-in-law Jim and Pam Mitos of West Windsor, NJ, and 1 niece and 4 nephews. Not a day went by that John didn't embrace the hugs and love of his family.Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service at 12 Noon on Friday, January 2, 2015 at the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, 41 W. Trenton Ave., Morrisville, PA (www.hooperfuneralchapel.com). The Rev. John Eckert, Pastor of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, will officiate. Committal services will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.Friends may call on Friday from 10:30-12 Noon at the funeral chapel. Services by both the American Legion and the Fairless Hills Elks will commence at 11:40 AM.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions, in John's name, be sent to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
