John Stewart Reeves, age 69 of Yardley, PA passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023. Born in Camden, NJ, John was raised in Haddonfield, NJ and has lived in Yardley since 1982.
If you knew John Reeves, you knew he was the kind of person who could make a connection with anyone, whether a 6-year-old neighbor, a 16-year-old store clerk, or a 60-year-old stranger next to him at the bar. If you didn’t know him, chances are that if you ran into him on the street or in the store, he’d find a way to make a connection with you too.
He likely wouldn’t have claimed “come as you are” as his motto, but that was just naturally the way he lived his life. He was unabashedly himself; he was unafraid to express an unpopular opinion and open enough to consider looking at it from a new angle. He didn’t mind disagreeing, and he didn’t let it keep him from enjoying a beer (or several) with you. As a father, he let his daughters choose their own paths in life - and if they were happy on those paths, he was happy along with them. No matter what, he made sure everyone knew how proud of them he was.
Prior to his retirement, John was employed as a Regional Sales Director with R.C. Bigelow Tea Company of Fairfield, CT for 25 years. He was famous among family and friend circles for his generous tea samples and industry expertise. He knew how to work his connections at a trade show, making sure there was always something special to bring home to his daughters.
John was an independent spirit and spent his retirement exploring the Chesapeake Bay on his boat, named the “Patti-Jane,” after his late wife. He loved live music and ice-cold beer with others just as much as he liked quiet coves to himself. He made new friends wherever he went, and kept close ties with old friends, no matter the distance. John was the kind of friend anyone wanted. He loved long conversations, and he paid attention, always asking the right questions to know more. He was thoughtful in unexpected ways. To him, gifts weren’t just for one time of year. If he was out and about or saw something online and it made him think of you, he sent it to you. His heart was full and his life was vibrant. He will be missed dearly by so many.
Son of the late Edmund H. Reeves, Jr. and loving husband of the late Patti-Jane (Gregory) Reeves, he is survived by his mother Constance Bartholomew Reeves of Marlton, NJ, two daughters Elizabeth A. Reeves of Washington, DC and Catherine Reeves Keller and her wife Emily Reeves Keller of Bunker Hill, WV, his brother Edmund III and Paula Reeves of Southport, NC, three sisters and a brother-in-law Carol Harkins of Voorhees, NJ, Elizabeth and Dean Jones of Southport, NC and Susan Reeves of Hillsborough, NC, and many nieces and nephews.
