Karoly Ihasz, age 89 of Hamilton Township, NJ passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at The Meadows at Lawrence in Lawrence Township. Born in Papa, Hungary, Karoly lived in Hamilton for over 50 years.
Mr. Ihasz was a longtime member of the Hungarian Reformed Church of Trenton. A member of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union, Local 152, Karoly was employed as a butcher at several supermarkets, and retired from the Shoprite in Pennington, NJ after 40 years of service. A nature lover, he enjoyed feeding the birds and tending to his vegetable garden. He was an amazing handyman, and could fix just about anything, often lending his services to any neighbors needing assistance. Karoly was very well known for his quick wit and sense of humor. Musically, he was a fan of Lawrence Welk.
Son of the late Ihasz and Vas (Katalin) Gyorgy and husband of the late Vilma Fericsan, he is survived by one sister Magdolna Janosne Erdodi of Hungary and many nieces and nephews.
Services for Mr. Ihasz will be held at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel at Morris Hall on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 11:30 AM. Burial in St. Stephen’s Cemetery will be announced at a later date.
