Our loving, selfless mother, Katharyn (Cavan) Reid, passed away and went toheaven on Wednesday, August 27, 2014. Katharyn was born in Wilkes-Barre , PA, andmoved to Philadelphia as a teenager and graduated from Simon Gratz High School.She was a career woman in Philadelphia until she married and moved to Levittown in1954, where she lived until her death. She enjoyed the pleasantries and challenges ofearly life in Levittown while raising eight children.Our mother dedicated her life to her family and continuously made sacrifices inorder to make them happy. She was wise, intelligent, and talented, and could playmusic by ear and played the piano and violin when she had the opportunity. Ourmother taught us all so very much. Katharyn survived colon cancer at the age of 70,but was not able to beat lung cancer at the age of 84. She fought so very hard.Katharyn was a lifetime Democrat who continued to be the voice for the underserved.She looked forward to both the college and pro football seasons, and was a dedicatedEagles fan. She will be sorely missed by her family and special friends.She was the loving daughter of the late Andrew Litcheck and Katharyn Cavan, sisterof the late Drew Cavan, and mother-in-law of the late Michael Sherlock. She issurvived by her eight children Nancy Sherlock of Morrisville, PA, Norman (Caroline)Reid of Marion, Wisconsin, Donna Reid of Levittown, Martin (Mary Ellen) Reid of S.Brunswick, NJ, Ronald (Linda) Reid of Morrestown, NJ, Andrea (Shawn) Chamberlain ofMorrisville, Mary Reid Hill (Brian) of Trevose, PA, and Andrew (Kerri) Reid of Levittown,17 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild, as well as hersister Jane Dolan of Savannah, GA, nephew Dennis Cavan of Florida, and specialfriends Mary Kline, Bobbie Wisnewski, and Mary Gruber.We wish a sincere thank you to Carole of Bright Star, who cared for our mother andformed a special bond. Thank you to Make a Wish Foundation, who brought rays ofhappiness with a visit from former Eagles player Mike Quick.A sincere thank you to Heartland Hospice Services for the care and compassion theyprovided our mother.Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services at 11 AM onThursday, Sept. 4, 2014 at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, 201 N.
