Lillian Ellen Schneider Howell, age 85 of Yardley, PA passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at her home, with her family by her side. Born in Baltimore, MD, Ellen lived in Yardley for the past 24 years.
Ellen was a graduate of the University of Maryland and was an insurance agent for Maryland Auto Fund for eight years and Computer Service Corporation for 10 years. Ellen’s enthusiastic personality led her to participate in a wide variety of activities throughout her life. She was a proud member of Job’s Daughters Bethel #36 in Parkville, MD. She was also a member of International Toastmasters, the International Women’s Insurance Association (both in Annapolis, MD), the Severn Town Club and the Morrisville and Bensalem Senior Centers. Ellen was fond of playing the piano, playing with the Sunday School children of Yardley United Methodist Church, the MPT Hymn Singers and to her great delight in the Atrium at St. Mary Medical Center. In her free time, she also enjoyed painting with acrylics and crocheting.
Daughter of the late George F. and Lillian (Ey) Schneider, and sister of the late Marilyn Herd, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Susan and Gregory Smith of Yardley, a son and daughter-in-law Jeffrey and Dori Howell of Stewartsville, NJ, a brother and sister-in-law John Charles and Virginia Schneider of New Church, VA, five grandchildren Daniel (Kathleen) Smith, Erica (Zachary) Boley, Jeffrey Douglas (Amy Smith), Jenna (Eddie) Demaris and Tessa Genevieve Howell, and three great grandchildren Noah Smith and Raymond and Lillian Boley. Ellen will always be in the hearts of her family and warmly missed by her many friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at 2 PM on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at the Yardley United Methodist Church, 300 Yardley Langhorne Rd., Yardley, PA 19067. The Rev. Cynthia Skripak will officiate.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 1 – 2 PM at the church.
Her interment will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at 11:30 AM at Moreland Memorial Park Cemetery, 1601 Taylor Ave., Parkville, MD 21234.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a memorial contribution, in Ellen’s name, to the missions of Yardley United Methodist Church at the address above.
