Ludwig Emil Schmelzer

Ludwig Emil Schmelzer, age 85 of Morrisville, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Neshaminy Manor Nursing Home, Warrington, PA. Born in Jersey City, NJ, Mr. Schmelzer had lived in Morrisville since 1941.Ludwig graduated from Morrisville High School, where he was voted "Boy of the Year". He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. After returning from military service, he earned his BS degree in Chemistry at Drexel University and his Master's in organic Chemistry at Trenton State. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a chemist at Rohm and Haas in both Bristol and Bridesburg for 30 years. Mr. Schmelzer was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church. Additionally, he was a member of the VFW, the American Legion, and the Bowman's Tower Wild Flower Preserve, and the Sierra Club.Son of the late William and Cecelia (Mattern) Schmelzer, and brother of the late E. Richard Schmelzer, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Steve and Karen Schmelzer of Morrisville, a daughter and son-in-law Linda and James Bordino of Wayne, NJ, and 4 nephews Jim, Bill, John, and Tom Schmelzer.Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate his memorial mass at 10 AM on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016 at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, 201 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Morrisville, PA. Interment will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery.Friends may call Wednesday evening from 7-9 PM at the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, 41 W. Trenton Ave., Morrisville, PA., (www.hooperfuneralchapel.com), and on Thursday morning from 9:30 - 10 AM at Holy Trinity Church.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions, in Mr. Schmelzer's name, be sent to Caring Hospice Services, 400 Commerce Dr., Ft.
