Margaret L. Bruno (nee Gerra) age 94 of Morrisville, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021 at her home surrounded by loving family. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Marge lived in Richmond, VA and Levittown, PA before moving to Yardley-Morrisville area in 1965 with her beloved husband, the late John T. Bruno, Sr and family. They were married for 52 years.
Marge lived a full and rewarding life. She was a devoted wife, mother of four and a proud homemaker. She was a valued friend, confidant and a second mother to many. Her home was open to all and she embraced everyone as her own family. The gusto with which she lived life was evident in all she did. She truly affected the lives of many and will be remembered for her sage advice, loving spirit and directness. She was an avid tennis player, a champion bowler, a seasoned card player and a social golfer. Not only was she a member of the Oxford Valley Ladies Golf Association but, as staunch supporter of our military and wife of a veteran, she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fallsington American Legion, Post # 834. She felt honored to serve them in any capacity. Among her many hobbies was boating. She received her Captain’s license and spent the summers with John in Beach Haven, NJ aboard the Dolphin II. Additionally, Marge was a knitter extraordinaire and was a knitting instructor at the Needle Nook in Yardley. She was also a long-time sales associate at Dunham’s Department Store.
Marge was a very diverse person and was always up for new adventures. She moved forward in life and embraced the changes each generation had to offer. She lived life in the present and never let the hard times defeat her. Her resolve was admired by all that knew her. Her influences were generational, a feat few people can claim. She will be remembered for her charming smile, lavish dinner parties, cocktails on the deck at 5:00 and an openness that was beloved by all. She was truly a person to emulate, a force not to be reckoned with and a powerhouse of resolve. She lived life on her own terms always staying true to her beliefs and morals. A fine and charitable person to say the least.
As a devout Catholic, she prayed many Novenas, had a devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and never missed Sunday Mass. Even during the Pandemic, she participated on-line via Zoom. She was a life-long parishioner of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Morrisville where she helped establish the school library, was a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary and supported the Church and its functions.
Daughter of the late Martin and Margaret (Landi) Gerra, and wife of the late John T. Bruno, Sr., she is survived by Lillian M. and Chet Marcucci of Millville, DE; Margaret M. Bruno and David Dewar of Morrisville, PA; John T., Jr. and Eileen (Hillman) Bruno of Seaford, NY; and Carolyn M. and Richard C. Havrilla, Sr. of Yardley, PA. She was the sister of the late Ralph A. Gerra of Bethlehem, PA and is survived by her twin brother Martin J. Gerra, Jr. of Kensington, MD; five grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
