Martin Heit

Martin Heit, age 89 of Freehold, NJ passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2020 at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold. He was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Leo and Sarah (Brodsky) Heit.

Heit was a Korean War veteran, photographic engineer, a pilot who once built his own airplane, an incredible woodworker and an inventor, most notably of what we know today as the white/dry erase board. He was a well traveled, well read, superb history buff with remarkable intelligence. He was also an electronics wiz, avid stamp collector, loved animals (including his two dogs Herman and Oliver) and always made time for the occasional White Castle burger or New Jersey scratch off lottery ticket. Heit was also scouted to play professional baseball in the late 1940's and was part of the US Army Inspection Detail for the SS United States in 1952.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Roslyn (Silver) Heit, two daughters, Janet Heit and Madeline (& Steve) Lipton, a son Scott (& Maggie) Heit, and five grandsons Michael, Robert, Joshua, Colin and Ryan.

Services and burial in Washington Crossing National Cemetery will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
