Mary Catherine Dougherty, 80, of Langhorne, PA, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at the Oxford Crossing Rehabilitation and Senior Living.

Mary Catherine was born in Pittston, PA to the late Donald and Sadie Dougherty. She started her career graduating from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1965. Mary Catherine continued earning her bachelor’s degree at Wilkes College, Masters Degrees from Beaver College and Villanova University. Finally completing her Doctorate in Education from Temple University in 1995. She started as a school nurse and ended as an Assistant Professor of Nursing. She became a dedicated teacher of Nursing, touching and enriching many people’s lives. Albert Einstein, Philadelphia School District, BCCC, Rutgers University, Episcopal Hospital, and Neuman College were places she had worked and taught.

During free time she loved to spend time with her family, friends, traveling and shopping. She especially enjoyed her visits to Lancaster, PA. While at home, she loved doing word searches and coloring as a past-time. 

She is survived by her sister, Ann Johnson and her brother, Frances Dougherty (Faye) and many nieces, nephew, and friends. 

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mary Catherine's memory to the American Diabetes Association by searching diabetes.org, American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA. or the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 8th Avenue, 16th floor, New York, NY 10001.
