Mary M. Philhower

January 14, 1948 — November 29, 2023

Morrisville

Mary Philhower, a beloved mother, wife, cherished friend, and pillar of strength, departed this world on November 29, 2023. Mary's journey began on January 14, 1948, and her legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born to the late Edmund and Ellen (Hughes) Kavanaugh, Mary grew up in Croydon, where she cultivated the qualities that defined her throughout her life: faith, integrity, kindness, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to family. She embraced life's challenges and joys with grace and a radiant spirit that touched everyone she encountered.
She is survived by her adoring husband of 55 and half years, Frederick C. Philhower, a devoted companion throughout the joys and challenges of life. Their love story was a testament to the enduring power of commitment, weathering the storms and savoring the sunshine of shared moments.
A dedicated mother, Mary leaves behind a legacy of love in the hearts of her children: Frederick J. Philhower, Maryann Philhower, Christine and (Michael) Duvall, and Carolyn and (Michael) Lobecker and grandchildren, Amelia and Jackson Duvall, who brought immeasurable happiness to her later years. She approached motherhood with abundant love, offering guidance, faith, and unconditional support.
Mary's family circle extended to include her late brother, Joseph Kavanaugh and her loving sister-in-law, Kathy Kavanaugh. The love and support Mary showered upon her family were reciprocated in kind by her nephew, Sean and (Melissa) Kavanaugh, and her niece, Colleen and (Chris) Cannon.
A woman of many talents, before retiring, Mary enjoyed working as a billing admin for 32 years with Catholic Charities, Diocese of Trenton. Her dedication and work ethic earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends.
As we mourn the loss of Mary, we also celebrate the extraordinary life she lived. Her legacy is one of love, resilience, and the enduring power of faith. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were touched by her grace.
Her Funeral Mass and burial in Washington Crossing National Cemetery will be held privately at the family's convenience.
