MaryLou Freund, 74, of Morrisville, Pennsylvania passed on Thursday, March 23rd, 2023, at Capital Health Medical Center in Hopewell, New Jersey.
She was born to Doris (Schwarz) and Frank Richards, on September 18th, 1948, in Trenton, New Jersey.
Former wife of the late William Miller and the widow of James Freund, MaryLou is survived by her loving companion Michael McTernan. She is also survived by her daughter, Catherine (Kate) and Chris Howell of Morrisville, and her son-in-law George Gancarz; plus bonus children: Deborah Freund, Brenda (Stephen) Perkins, Janice (Dennis) Norton, and James Freund, Jr., as well as several bonus Grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her sisters, Virginia (Dan) Smith of Waretown, NJ, and Barbara (Robert) Koppenhaver of Orefield, and brother-in-law George Rigby of Roseto. MaryLou was blessed with seven grandchildren: Christopher (Megan) Gancarz, Sarah Gancarz, Allison (Tyler) Zawierucha, Hillary (Anthony Cookson) Howell, Justin Howell, Audrey Howell, and Megan Howell, plus, seven great-grandchildren: Jennifer, Jon, Aiden, Caleb, Naomi, Harper, and Amelia, in addition to several nieces and nephews. MaryLou was also preceded in death by her daughter Jennifer Garcarz.
MaryLou was a Licensed Practical Nurse and cared for people at Delaware Valley Hospital, Planned Parenthood of Mercer County, New Horizon Treatment Center, Henry J Austin Health Center, and most recently Meridian Health. She ran the kitchen for the Meals on Wheels program at Falls Township Senior Center and was a founding member of the Morrisville Ambulance Squad where she became a Paramedic. She was a passionate advocate of HIV treatment and education.
MaryLou was an avid quilter, and donated her skills to Quilts for Kids. She also enjoyed volunteering and fostering dogs for Doxie Rescue.
Friends and family are invited to gather on Friday, March 31st, 2023, at the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, 41 West Trenton Avenue, Morrisville, Pennsylvania from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
