Matthew Edward Grey, 49, left this world far too soon in his home of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania. He was a beloved son, father, brother, and friend who touched the lives of many with his hippie soul and contagious smile.
He graduated from Pennsbury High School class of 1993 in Bucks County Pennsylvania, and received his bachelor’s degree in Biology and Chemistry at Vermont State University Castleton Campus class of 1998.
Beyond his professional careers, Matthew had hobbies that brought him closer to nature and nurtured his artistic spirit. He loved spending time fishing and camping, always finding joy in the great outdoors. His artistic side flourished through his passions; he loved drawing, crafting, woodworking, writing music, going to see live concerts, and sharing experiences with those he loved and cared for.
In Matthew’s words, he was a “facilitator of fun, promoter of positivity, and as bold as love”. He was known for his spunky personality and remarkable sense of humor. He shared with others his hobbies and interests, whether it was helping someone learn to skateboard, play the guitar, or showing a new song. These cherished memories will forever be held close to his friend’s and family's hearts.
Matthew is survived by his loving family: his father, Clifford (Tim) Grey, and mother, Candice Grey, and his cherished daughters, Kayla, Sarah, Rachel, and Amanda Grey. He is also survived by his uncle and Godfather John Vollmar, as well as his three sisters, Jennifer Grey, Elizabeth Boltri and Carolyn Grey, and her husband, Chuck Kasperitis. His niece and nephews will carry memories of their Uncle Matthew in their hearts, as well as extended family members and all of his beloved friends.
Matthew’s Remembrance Party will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2025 from 4pm to 7pm at the Puss and Boot Tavern in their Pocono Room, 934 Trenton Rd, Levittown, PA 19054, to share memories and pay condolences.
Although Matthew’s life came to an unexpected end, his sense of love and creativity will forever be with those he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed, but remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
