Melvyn A. Sandler Yardley, PA. We mourn the loss of Melvyn A. Sandler, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law and friend. Mel was born Feb. 20, 1928, and passed away peacefully on Sept. 14, 2015, at the Delaware Valley Veterans Home. He lived a full and robust life and died a content man filled with love, gratitude and humor. Mel was predeceased by his parents, Aaron and Beulah Sandler; his son, Scott G. Sandler, and his infant daughter, Nancy Lee Sandler. He is survived by a loving family who will miss his big laugh and even bigger heart: his wife of 61 years, Barbara R. Sandler; his sister-in-law, Jeri Rogers; his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Victor Gray; his sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy and Lisa Sandler, and Christopher and Robin Sandler; his son and fiancee, Craig Sandler and Marcia Fay; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Leo and Carole Rogers; his nephew, Douglas Rogers and his partner, Melanie Boyd; his nephew, Matthew Rogers and his wife, Elizabeth Rogers. He also left behind eight treasured grandchildren, Max and Tess Sandler, Shannon and Luke Gray, Jeffrey and Katie Sandler, and Christian and Caroline Sandler. Mel was the proprietor of Sandler Real Estate of Trenton, NJ, and was past president of the Lions Club of Trenton and a member of the Good Shepherd Society. He was first lieutenant and company commander in the U.S Army and a graduate of The Citadel and Staunton Military Academy. Mel enjoyed golf, travel, theatre and the company of his family and friends. In his later years, he was lovingly cared for by the extraordinary Delaware Valley Veterans Home staff. A private celebration of Mel's life will take place at Grey Nuns Academy chapel, 1750 Quarry Rd., Yardley, PA, on Sept. 17, 2015, at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Delaware Valley Veterans Home, 2701 Southampton Rd, Philadelphia, PA 19154.
