Pete Stainthorpe, of Yardley, Pennsylvania, died peacefully with his family around him on Tuesday, December 16, 2014. He was 62.Pete was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Norman and Alyce Stainthorpe, and grew up in Wyncote, Pennsylvania. He attended Penn State University, and was a member of the Chi Phi fraternity and served as president of the Interfraternity Council. He settled in Yardley, where he raised his three children and was an active leader in the community. Pete served as a Township Supervisor in Lower Makefield Township for three terms. He strove to find bipartisan solutions to local problems, championed preservation of open space in the rapidly developing area, and will be remembered for his commitment to this community. He was a long time member of Morrisville Presbyterian Church, where he served as both a deacon and an elder.Pete will be remembered for his charismatic personality, his unwavering positive outlook, his bright smile, his sense of humor, his leadership, and his commitment to his family and community. He is survived by his children, Hillary Stainthorpe Harrison, Ned Stainthorpe, and Anne Stainthorpe; granddaughter Eloise Harrison; son-in-law Geoff Harrison; brother Mark Stainthorpe; and long time companion and significant other Gail Perreault.A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 19, at 11:00 am, at Morrisville Presbyterian Church, 771 North Pennsylvania Avenue, Morrisville, Pa, where friends and family may call from 10 am until the time of the service.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org/
