Peter Vincent Santoro

August 10, 1942 — September 1, 2021

Yardley, PA

Peter Vincent Santoro, 79, of Yardley, PA departed this earthly dimension on September 1, 2021 at Chandler Hall Hospice in Newtown. He was surrounded in love and devotion by his family and beloved dog Nera.

Peter was born in Portsmouth, VA to Golda “Goldie” Flanzbaum and Peter Santoro, Sr., both originally of New York City, on Aug. 10, 1942, where his father worked as an electrician in the shipyards during World War II. The family moved to Philadelphia in 1946 and subsequently to Levittown, PA. He graduated from Delhas High School, Bristol, PA in 1960 where he was a member of the basketball, volleyball, bowling teams, as well as captain of the chess club.

A graduate of Penn State University in 1966 with a B.S. in Mathematics, Peter pursued a career in computer science and cable TV/ communications technology for more than 40 years. He led development of cable TV system software design for equipment manufacturer Jerrold/General Instrument, was a co-founder of Cable Technologies International, and was part of the founding technology team of WorldGate Communications. Most recently he provided computer consulting services for local small businesses and consumers in the greater Bucks and Philadelphia areas.

He was married to Theresa Szykowiak Jardel from 1966 to 1990 who passed in 2004. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Patti Reali Santoro.

He served with distinction with the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany as Military Police during the Vietnam Era. Peter was awarded service commendations in rifle and pistol marksmanship, as well receiving the National Defense Service medal.

Peter will be remembered for his love of family, a dry wit and engaging sense of humor, a kind and generous spirit, his love of beaches, travel to Italy and the Southwest to the family home in Tucson, AZ, an appreciation for Italian cuisine, and a newly-found love for baking rustic artisan bread. He had a lifelong passion for basketball and his beloved (and beleaguered!) Sixers, and played local league ball up until his recent illness. He was particularly proud of his running jump shot and what he liked to call his killer, old-school sky hook shot.

Peter is preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Pamela Santoro Sessions.

In addition to his wife Patti, he is survived by his cherished children: sons Jack Vincent (Sharon Sadorf), Marc Peter (Joy Cooper), and daughter Nicole Terese; and 5 beloved grandchildren: Justin, Summer, Emma, Cole Santoro, and Noah “Luci” Santoro; and beloved dog Nera.

There will be a private military burial for family at Washington Crossing Veterans Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to Celebration of Life for Peter on Sunday, September 12.

The family asks that men be mindful of their health issues and get regular screening for prostate cancer, a highly preventable disease. They also extend sincere gratitude to the nurses and caregivers of Chandler Hall Hospice organization. In memorium donations may be directed to Chandler Hall Hospice Pavilion, 99 Barclay Court, Newtown, PA 18940.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, 41 W. Trenton Ave., Morrisville, PA  19067 (www.hooperfuneralchapel.com)
