Philip N Tigar

June 29, 1934 — November 15, 2017

Philip Nathan Tigar of Yardley, PA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 15, 2017. He was 83. Born June 29, 1934, Philip was the son of the late Nathan and Helen (Haldeman) Tigar. He was born and raised in Fallsington, PA and lived in Yardley for over 60 years. Philip was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Tigar, and his son Bruce Philip Tigar. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Ann (Bahelka) Tigar; his daughters, Diane Zanetti and her husband Daniel, and Mary Chris Marrazzo and her husband, Glenn; his daughter-in-law, Carol Tigar; his brother John Tigar; his grandchildren, Dawn and Brian Moschberger, Michael and Courtney Ronaldo, Austin and Linda Smith, Dan Zanetti, Philip A. Tigar, Elizabeth and Benjamin Chaney, Brittany and Jason Ferraro, Lianna and Heath Ford, and Patrick Marrazzo; and his 15 great-grandchildren.
Philip was especially loved by his sisters-in-law, Gail Pesce and her husband Frank, and Joyce Thompson and her husband Andrew. His many nieces and nephews were particularly fond of his offbeat witticisms, his ‘Fiction & Facts from Uncle Philsy's Almanac,' and his genuine warmth, kindness, and generosity.
Together with partner Mason Whitley, he formed Garley, Inc. in 1961. This Fallsington business was his passion. Working side-by-side with his son Bruce, he took great pride in serving the community by crafting custom kitchen cabinets and countertops.
Philip especially enjoyed vacation time spent at the Pocono cabin fondly known as T.I.F.L., which he built from the ground up, along with the Thompsons, the Pesces, and Lois and Neal MacDonald. The family bungalow in Surf City, NJ was another cherished getaway. Known as a keen player of card games, nothing made him happier than to be surrounded by his family engaged in a game of Hearts.
Philip was also a lifetime member of the Fairless Hills Elks Lodge #2023 and the Wild Turkey Hunt Club.
Relatives and friends are invited to call from 10 AM - 12 PM on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, 41 W. Trenton Ave., Morrisville, PA, followed by a service at 12 Noon, with Deacon Jim Hartmann, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery, River Road, Yardley.
