R. Edwin Allen

R. Edwin Allen, age 99 of Yardley, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 24, 2016 at Chandler Hall Hospice, Newtown, PA. Born in Trenton, NJ, Mr. Allen was a resident of Lower Makefield Township for the past 64 years.Ed graduated in 1935 from Trenton High School. A Navy Veteran of WWII, he was employed as a salesperson with Butz Lumber Co in Wilmington, DE. He was a member of the Morrisville Presbyterian Church and the Masonic Lodge in Trenton. Ed enjoyed meeting with his Friday afternoon lunch group and having happy hours with his friends. A sports enthusiast, he was an avid golfer who shot his age many times and enjoyed watching all of the Philly sports teams.Son of the late James Russell and Frances C. (Delp) Allen, husband of the late Margaret "Peggy" (Edwards) Allen, father of the late Judy Rousseau and son-in-law Harry Null. He is survived by his son-in-law John Rousseau, daughters Barbara (David) Goodwin of Yardley, PA, daughter Joanne Null of Mechanicsville, VA, son Russell "Rusty" Edwin Allen, Jr. (Cindy Hanye) of Glen Allen, VA, his sister F. Bernice Donini of Yardley, PA, 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 11 AM on Friday, Oct. 28, 2016 at the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, 41 W. Trenton Ave., Morrisville, PA. (www.hooperfuneralchapel.com). The Rev. Bruce Ballantine, Pastor of the Morrisville Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton Township, NJ. Friends may call Friday morning from 9:30 -11 AM at the funeral chapel.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions, in the name of R.
