Raymond Martin Barnes, Sr., age 76 of Levittown, PA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Born in Camden, NJ, Ray lived in Morrisville for 30 years before moving to Levittown 19 years ago.
He was a graduate of Pennsbury High School, and was a proud Army Veteran, serving in Germany. Mr. Barnes had been employed as a carpenter with the Pennsbury School District for over 30 years. A member of the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation in Morrisville, he was also a member of Masonic Lodge # 139 F. & A.M. in Trenton, where he served as Worshipful Master in 1983. Additionally, he belonged to Shriner’s Lodge # 270 in Trenton, Tall Cedars, and the Scottish Rite. Although golf was his main hobby, he also enjoyed fishing, traveling and woodworking. An avid sports fan, Ray was always rooting for his Philly sports teams as well as Penn State. He also had an alter ego, Jellybean the Clown.
Son of the late Harry H. Barnes, Sr. and Elizabeth Collins (Milligan) Barnes, and proceeded in death by his late wife Beverly Joan ( Moyer) Barnes. He is survived by his loving wife Karen ( Mittnacht ) Barnes, two sons and daughters-in-law Raymond Martin, Jr. and Carol Barnes of Manheim, PA and Benjamin and Amber Barnes of Norman, OK, two daughters and sons-in-law Christine and William O’Brien of Levittown and Meghan and Sean Haggerty of Bensalem, a brother and sister-in-law Harry H. Jr. and Carolyn Barnes of Morrisville, nine grandchildren Brooke, Abigail, Andrew, Kaylie, Aiden, Liam, Mason, Connor and Violet, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funer al service at 11 AM on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Ch apel, 41 W. Trenton Ave., Morrisville, PA 19067. His interment will follow in Newtown Cemetery.
Friends may cal l Tuesday morning from 9:30 AM - 11 AM at the funeral chapel.
