Richard Stanley Hance, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025, in Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania. He was born on June 27, 1947, in Roebling, New Jersey, and graduated from Florence High School, paving the way for a commendable career and a life filled with passion and dedication.
Richard worked diligently at U.S. Steel Fairless Works for eight years before embarking on a distinguished career as an electrical supervisor at Sunoco, where he dedicated 23 years of his life, showcasing his commitment to excellence and leadership in his field. His professional journey reflects a blend of technical skill and unwavering perseverance, which left a mark on both his colleagues and the industry.
A lifetime member of the Fairless Hills Elks Lodge #2023, Richard was known for his strong community ties and generous spirit. His varied interests brought joy and color to his life; he was an avid golfer and took great pleasure in participating in the Linkmasters Golf League. Richard also embraced his artistic side through the Bob Ross style of painting, capturing moments on canvas that reflected his serene and thoughtful nature. Moreover, his enthusiasm for finance, particularly in following stocks and precious metals markets, demonstrated his keen analytical mind. An avid history buff, Richard had a particular fascination with the Civil War and World War II, often engaging others in meaningful discussions about historical events.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Mary McCarthy Hance; his son, Christopher Hance, and daughter-in-law, Kelly Hance, of Langhorne, Pennsylvania; and two cherished grandchildren, Gavin and Aubrey. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, who will remember him fondly for his kindness and wisdom.
He was preceded in death by his son, Eric Richard Hance, and his sister, Gladys Ann Cornett. Their absence will be deeply felt as Richard's legacy continues through the love and memories of those who remain.
Visitation will be held at J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services, located at 41 W. Trenton Ave., Morrisville, PA 19067, on March 9, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Additional visitation will take place at St. George's Church, 1370 River Rd, Hopewell Township, NJ 08560, on March 10, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Mass at 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM.
Richard Stanley Hance will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his enthusiastic pursuit of knowledge, and his vibrant personality that touched the lives of many. His memory will live on through the stories shared and the love fostered among those he held dear.
