Ruth Bissert Cunnane (kreth)

Ruth Bissert Cunnane, age 86, of Bensalem, PA, formerly of Yardley, PA, died Thursday, February 14, 2013 at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne, PA, surrounded by her family. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she moved to Yardley in 1963, where she lived until moving to Wood River Village in Bensalem 8 years ago. Prior to her retirement in 1986, she was employed as the Director of Nursing at Parkway Nursing Home in Ewing, NJ. She was a graduate of Lenox Hill Hospital School of Nursing in New York. She was also a member of the Lenox Hill Alumni Association. Ruth was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Yardley since 1963, where she was a member of the Sonshiner Club and a member of the choir. She was an avid traveler who enjoyed cruises. She was also a voracious reader. Ruth volunteered her time in various activities at Wood River Village in Bensalem, including the Red Hat Society and the chorus.Daughter of the late John and Ruth (Fritz) Kreth and wife of the late Kenneth Bissert and John J. Cunnane, she is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, John and Susan Bissert of Yardley, PA and Jeffrey and Susan Pinkerton Bissert of Doylestown, a daughter and son-in-law Ruth Anne and David Woolsey of Langhorne, PA; 5 grandchildren, Danielle Bissert of Doylestown, PA, John Bissert, Jr. of Brooklyn, NY, Mary Elizabeth Connolly (and her husband Chris) of Edwards, CA, Garrett Metz of West Chester, PA, Jacqueline Metz (and her fiancé Todd McGonigal) of Ewing, NJ, and a great-granddaughter, Susannah Rose Connolly.Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 11 AM at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 1700 Makefield Rd., Yardley, PA 19067. The Rev. Sharon Taylor, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Newtown Cemetery.Friends may call Monday evening from 7-9 PM at the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, 41 W. Trenton Ave., Morrisville, PA (www.hooperfuneralchapel.com) and on Tuesday from 10-11 AM at the church.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ruth's name to the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 1700 Makefield Rd., Yardley, PA 19067.
