Sarah Dakota Skarulis

January 18, 1920 — July 24, 2018

Sarah Dakota (Clawson) Skarulis , 98, of Langhorne, PA passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on July 24, 2018. She was a resident of Yardley for 25 years and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church.

Born on January 18, 1920 in Alexandria, S. Dakota to the late William Clawson and Sadie Marguerite Morehouse. Sarah had served the military as a Staff Sargent during WWII.  Prior to her retirement, she had been employed with the U.S. Postal Service for 25 years.

Mrs. Skarulis enjoyed bowling, crossword puzzles, and knitting caps and mittens for the Head Start Program.  She was a fabulous baker and was known for her delicious peanut brittle.

Wife of the late Joseph Skarulis, mother of the late Paul T. Skarulis, and Grandmother of the late David Skarulis, she is survived by 6 daughters and their husbands, Carol and Alfred Landess of New York City, Margaret Mary and Mauro Capobianco of Hickory, NC, Dr. Louise Skarulis and Carmen Amatucci of Philadelphia, Drs. Agatha and Enrico Verrico of Langhorne, PA, Julianna and Raymond Tamburrino of Sparta, NJ, Dr. Catherine Skarulis Amato and Joseph Amato of Garden City, NY, a son and his wife Joseph and Iris Skarulis of Smithtown, NY, 30 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wed., July 25, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Yardley, PA.  Her interment was held Friday, July 27, 2018 at 12:30 PM at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in Mrs. Skarulis’ memory, may be made to St. John The Evangelist Church, 752 Big Oak Rd., Yardley, PA  19067.
