Sharon M. Mahon, age 68, of Yardley, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2017 at her home. Born to the late James Francis and Claire (Reich) Mahon in +Jersey City, NJ, Sharon was raised in Bridgewater, NJ near her grandparents and after the death of her father became close to her stepfather, James F. Dempsey. Ms. Mahon lived in Hollywood, FL for 10 years before moving to Yardley 20 years ago.
Sharon was a retired state employee who was a lifelong advocate for progressive and humanitarian causes. A parishioner of St. Ignatius of Antioch Roman Catholic Church in Yardley, Sharon was an ardent supporter of free speech who always helped the down trodden, she was a devotee of individuals' personal identity who loved camping, playing games with family, especially mumblety-peg and was an accomplished amateur singer in her youth.
She is survived by her daughter Colleen Picklo, two sons and a daughter-in-law Nicholas Picklo and Jim and Sue Picklo of Manalapan, NJ, two sisters Claire Mahon of Flemington, NJ and Maureen Polt of Glen Gardner, NJ, and five grandchildren, Jessica, Jacquelyn, Shannon, Margaret, and Erin Picklo and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM at the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, 41 W. Trenton Ave., Morrisville, PA. A funeral service will follow at 8 PM. Her interment will be held privately.
Individuals that would prefer to make a contribution in her name, her favorite among the many organizations she supported is the Wolf Conservation Center, PO Box 421, South Salem, NY.
